• Demonstration of course software, how to get started   (ArcView, DynESDA, SpaceStat, CrimeStat, Variowin)
• Optional: Quick start to ArcView
• SpaceStat basics

• Visualization and exploratory spatial data analysis (ESDA)
• Introduction to point pattern analysis

 
Exercise:

• ESDA
• CrimeStat basics

Wednesday, 18 July:

 
Lectures:

• Spatial arrangement and spatial weights
• Spatial autocorrelation indices

 
Exercise:

• Manipulating spatial weights in SpaceStat
• Global spatial autocorrelation indices in SpaceStat

Thursday, 19 July:

 
Lectures:

• Local spatial autocorrelation
• Variogram (geostatistics)

 
Exercise:

• LISA maps
• Variowin basics
• Exploring variograms

Friday, 20 July:

 
    Lectures:

• Kriging
• Introduction to spatial regression analysis

 
  Exercise:

• Modeling variograms
• Spatial regression basics in SpaceStat
