A multi agent model that embeds formally explicit causal connections between agents (e.g. farmers, logging corporations, government agencies), using the 'actors field' component of the Action in Context framework and a relatively simple rational choice model. The model will be made operational for a number of different locations (small pixels) throughout the Sierra Madre region. The behavior and dynamics of land use change will be simulated for different scenarios of external pressure.
