Suggested Travel Itinerary:
Arrive Santa Barbara, Sunday, 28 July
Depart Santa Barbara, Saturday, 3 August
There is no UCSB shuttle from the SB airport to the campus housing (Santa Ynez Apartments).
Transportation recommendation -- from Santa Barbara Airport to the Santa Ynez Apartments (6650 El Colegio Road, Goleta, California 93117):
This is a very short ride from the airport to the apartments, and we recommend the SuperRide shuttle (683-9636)--no advance reservations necessary...very convenient and less expensive than taxis (usually large white van, big blue lettering on sides and top "SuperRide"). There is usually a shuttle waiting at the airport for deplaning passengers, so you may not need to call for service. Check first before calling them (there is a courtesy phone in the baggage claim area). Re: fare,
SuperRide is usually much cheaper than the regular taxi fee. Also, it's convenient and a less expensive to schedule a round-trip with them. SuperRide is a better deal! (If you can't go with SuperRide, Blue Dolphin Taxi is good also.)
Accommodations
Unless you state otherwise on your Personal Data Form, I assume that each of you will accept our offer to stay in the UCSB-owned Santa Ynez Apartments, near the campus and within walking distance. The cost of the six night stay (Sunday-Friday) is extremely reasonable at $266.00 per person. This amount will be deducted from your $500 CSISS scholarship, and a balance check in the amount of $234 will be remitted to you either at the end of the workshop or later this summer.
(Note: For non-U.S. citizens, the balance will be processed for you via a Travel Expense Voucher to be detailed later.)

Please report to the first class on Monday, 29 July, 8:30am, Ellison Hall, Room 2620. The campus map website is listed below.
Workshop dress: Bring lots of shorts and comfortable cotton shirts -- workshop is casual dress. But the classroom and labs (and evenings!) get cold sometimes, so bring a sweater/jacket.
Santa Barbara weather: usually temperate during the day (in the high 60s to high 70s), but rather chilly in the evenings. Be sure to bring a sweater or light jacket (depending on your personal thermometer!).
