Student Portfolios

This facility is intended as a searchable repository of projects on spatial demography to be completed by summer workshop participants in 2005 and 2006. It will also feature their post-workshop achievements, including research papers and posters presented at academic conferences, and curriculum resources. All contributions to this portfolio that are available for public access are peer reviewed by members of the population research community.

Plans for Web-based Learning Resources

Following completion of the GIS Population Science workshops in late 2006, the Population Research Institute (Pennsylvania State University) and the Center for Spatially Integrated Social Science (University of California, Santa Barbara) will adapt workshop teaching materials and participant portfolios into a web-based resource for delivery of self-paced learning to a wider audience of demographers and social scientists. Individuals who complete this program may receive a certificate of achievement from PRI and CSISS.
